Why are most restaurant cooks male, but most household cooks females? Any ideas.

That's easy. Men only do "women's work' when they get paid for it. Quite clever really. We play the wait game at my house. We wait to see who gives out first and cooks. It was 10pm before he finally gave in.
Unfortunately, advances in culinary arts are primarily male-driven. It truly is regarded as a "man's game." I think that the trickle down effect causes exactly what BecAus said.
My boss and I were each at seperate lines one day when an order for 2 of the same item came back. We each made 1 and when she finished hers before me she said "looks like I'm just more of a man than you are". I really wanted to respond with "bitch, this is a kitchen, you belong here", but I just couldn't bring myself to say it.

Perhaps it's because the world is sexist. The woman gets to stay at home in her nice little kitchen while the man gets to go out and work.
